Rooted in Nature – scrapbooking for Father’s Day

It has been the busiest year ever, and keeping up with my 14 month old son has left me less time than I would like, to share my crafting with you all! The brand new Stampin’ Up! Annual Catalogue has been such a treat though, and I am just starting to play with all my beautiful new goodies! I have never been much of a scrap booker in the past, but with so many precious moments to capture with my family, I have decided to make a special effort this year, to scrap book whenever I can!

Recently it was Father’s Day in the UK, so it seemed like the perfect time to kick off my scrapbook album. This is a picture of my husband Ben and son Grayson in a photo shoot we did in the week following Grayson’s 1st birthday. He is never happier than when he is sitting on his daddy’s shoulders!!

I wanted to keep the theme neutral rather than flowery, so decided on the new Rooted in Nature Bundle. Oh my word, this Bundle is absolutely stunning!! The stamped images are just gorgeous with my favourite being the detailed leaves. Orange is my husband’s favourite colour, so I mounted the photo on a piece of pumpkin pie cardstock and went with coastal cabana, blackberry bliss, merry merlot and call me clover, for the background stamping. I added some pumpkin pie accents using Timeless Textures which remains a firm favourite of mine. The gold heat embossing and black die cuts add texture and dimension along with a more masculine vibe.  The ‘amazing’ was die cut using the Celebrate You thinlit dies, and the black patterned accent pieces were cut using the Flourish thinlits dies.

Just love how it all came together. I’ve also realised scrapbooking is a great way to combine and showcase different stamp sets easily, so am looking forward to sharing more of this with you in the coming months xx
