Playful Penguins

I adore penguins, and I love the Playful Penguins set at Christmas time. As soon as I spotted it in the Winter Catalogue, I knew it would be the set I chose to use to make my own Christmas cards.  The black and white penguin image is simple but detailed, and makes a great focal point.

I layered the penguin image on some Mercury glass acetate and added a glittered black organdy bow to tie in with the silver acetate panel.

The Scripty 3D embossing folder adds some interest to the whisper white backdrop and to the ‘wintery’ feel of the card.

It’s so easy to create stunning Christmas cards and tags using this gorgeous set, and with very little effort.  Can’t wait to play some more xx

Detailed Deer Shaker Christmas Card

Of all the beautiful Christmas bundles I’ve purchased from the Autumn/Winter catalogue so far, the Dashing Deer Bundle has gotten the most use. I love deer and The Detailed Deer Dies are just so stunning.

I love how sparkly and elegant this Christmas shaker card turned out. I know I should give some of the other foil paper a chance for goodness sake, but for some reason I am totally hooked on copper this year and I LOVE the copper reindeer paired with the black organdy ribbon and gorgeous metallic sequins!

The lovely sentiment comes from Making Christmas Bright and fits the card and all of its shiny elements perfectly.

Thanks for stopping by today 😘 xx

Snowflake Showcase – Snowflake card with galaxy style background

The Snowflake Showcase is simply stunning. This gorgeous set makes it easy to stretch my creativity and before I knew it, I was attempting my first ever galaxy-style blended background!

These backgrounds have been dry blended and I have also stayed with one colour family for each card so I’m not sure it qualifies officially as the galaxy technique (which I believe is usually watercoloured). But it is my unique take on that technique.

I had so much fun creating these backgrounds and they all came together relatively quickly too.

The snowflake is cut from the largest die in the Snowfall die set and it is absolutely beautiful. I cut each snowflake from the new white velvet sheets – oh my, how divine!!! This paper is pure luxury, and I love its texture and the way it pops so vividly against the blended background.

The colour combos I used were:

RED – poppy parade, lovely lipstick, real red, cherry cobbler, merry merlot

PINK – petal pink, flirty flamingo, melon mambo, berry burst

GREEN – lemon lime twist, mint macaron, old olive, tranquil tide

PURPLE – highland heather, gorgeous grape, Rich razzleberry, blackberry bliss

BLUE – coastal cabana, balmy blue, pacific point, night of navy

Don’t forget the snowflake showcase will only be available to purchase until the end of November so don’t miss out on this beautiful and timeless set!! To purchase any of the products, just click on the product picture below. Thanks for stopping by xx

Snow is Glistening Unicorn Card

The Snow is Glistening Stamp Set and coordinating Snowfall thinlits dies is a beautiful and exclusive new limited edition Set.

My idea for the unicorn card layout came from Pinterest, and as soon as I saw these intricate snowflake Dies, I thought they would make a cool and Christmassy alternative to the usual flowers you see on unicorn images.

I silver heat embossed the gorgeous tree image onto silver foil sheet and fussy cut the triangular shape out for the horn. I then sponged frost white shimmer paint onto the snowflakes to add to the wintery feel. I chose cool toned colours for this card and think the highland heather, rich razzleberry, balmy blue, coastal cabana and soft seafoam colours work so well together.

This bundle will be available for purchase ONLY UNTIL 30th November at my online store. Just click on any of the products in the list below to go straight to my shop.

Merry Christmas to All

Christmas is my favourite time of the year, but when it comes to sending Christmas Cards, I love to mix up old and new styles to create something unique.  This card sums that up!

The Merry Christmas to All Bundle has a mix of fonts which works on so many different styles of card, and on this card, I love that traditional script font cut from the gorgeous Joyous Noel glimmer paper.

This was my first time using the Nothing Sweeter Bundle. It’s a great set for creating tags and belly bands for Christmas confectionary gifts (the stamped images resemble cookies).  But I decided to do something a bit different and use the tree die to create an actual Christmas tree for my card front, cut from the stunning Joyous Noel DSP. The dies are so versatile and pretty, and their use stretches far beyond Christmas.  Just love the stitched border effect, though I’m thinking my little stitched tree has a Nordic feel about it.  What do you think?

I used white heat embossing on the ‘Christmas’ label for a nice crisp white image against the Sahara Sand card front, with a few white sequins to finish.

Which colour way is your favourite? I’m leaning towards the tranquil tide…..!

Anyway, thanks for visiting today! xxx

A Bokeh Night in Bethlehem

I adore the Bokeh Technique, and I always do a bokeh card for Christmas.  There are many ways to achieve this beautiful background effect, but I tend to blend my background using sponge daubers and then apply the white circles using white craft ink through a circle stencil.  You can create your own stencil by die cutting various sized circles into a piece of window sheet.  Craft ink takes a while to dry though, so there’s no rushing this technique!

I decided to use A Night in Bethlehem for this card as I thought the die cuts from our new black foil sheets would work perfectly against the background.  The black foil perfectly combats the difficulty of stamping a crisp black image onto white ink.

I love the finished look of this card, and will be trying my hand at more bokeh cards in the coming weeks.  It certainly creates a WOW at Christmas time!

Detailed Deer & Joyous Noel – II

I posted a variation of this card a while back using the main colours from the Joyous Noel Suite (https://stampingwithlove.net/2018/08/31/joyous-noel-detailed-deer-sneak-peek).  Today I’m posting the same card in a very different colourway – gray granite and soft suede.

I would never have thought to put these colours together had I not been taking them from the stunning Joyous Noel DSP, but I absolutely love the colour combination on this card. So sophisticated and Christmassy in its own right, and no red or green in sight!

I coloured a few rhinestones in soft suede with my Stampin’ Blends. This DSP is so elegant and rich, and the copper foiling adds glamour without overpowering everything else. You really need to see it with your own eyes to appreciate it -love, love, love.

Frosted Floral Deer

So it’s here and it’s live!!!! The stunning new Autumn/Winter catalogue has finally arrived and you won’t be disappointed. There’s just about something for everyone in this catalogue, and today I am combining two of my favourite things – the Frosted Floral speciality DSP and the Detailed Deer thinlits dies.

I kept these cards really simple as the DSP is pearlised and shimmery and when I added anything more to the card front it just seemed to detract from that.

I adore the beauty and simplicity of these cards, and I love finding another reason to use this stunning DSP xx

Joyous Noel & Detailed Deer – Sneak Peek

I’m just loving copper at the moment, so when I saw the Joyous Noel Suite in the new Autumn/Winter catalogue, I knew it was one for me. I teamed it with the brand new Detailed Deer Dies to create this Christmas card.

I normally prefer more contemporary colours at Christmas, but this suite and all the elements in it are so elegant and sparkly, and tranquil tide and merry merlot are a great fresh take on the traditional green and red Christmas colour way.

The copper foiled Joyous Noel DSP is divine, and I love it as a background to my copper foiled Deer. I created my sparkly tranquil tide sprig using the brand new sprig punch with some coordinating Joyous Noel glimmer paper.

Love love love this entire suite – it will be available to purchase when the new catalogue launches on 5th September xx

Watercolor Christmas

I love big bold sentiments and the font and size of the Christmas sentiments in Watercolor Christmas are no exception. This stamp set is perfect for quick Christmas crafting. I chose to pair rich deep colours with crumb cake cardstock for these cards – cherry cobbler, fresh fig, tranquil tide and night of navy. I stamped the sentiment onto an oval, die cut using the stitched shape framelits dies and added some copper foil Christmas mistletoe cut using the Pretty Pines Thinlits Dies with some copper washi tape from my stash and ribbon to match the card bases. I also embossed my card front with the Softly Falling embossing folder to add to the Christmassy vibe, and attached to a copper foil mat.
