As promised, here is part 2 of my coffee cup inspiration blog and this was my favourite cup of the three designs (scroll down if you missed part 1!). I began by taking a couple of sponge daubers and sponging the right hand side of my whisper white card stock in pink pirouette and blushing bride ink to create the soft pink background shown behind the flowers in the cup. Then I stamped my flowers and rose buds with stamps from the gorgeous Bloomin’ Love stamp set in rose red and sponged over the flowers in melon mambo. I stamped the large leaves from Flower Patch in garden green ink ‘stamped off’ and then stamped the tiny leaf accents from Endless Thanks in full strength garden green ink to give some contrast. I then drew in the leaf veins by hand with a garden green Stampin’ write marker.
To replicate the bird in flight, I naturally reached for the beautiful hummingbird stamp from Picture Perfect stamp set and stamped him in so saffron and island indigo ink. I then cut him out and popped him up on dimensionals on top of some linen thread loops. Finally I gold embossed my ‘happy birthday’ sentiment from Rose Wonder on a vellum banner and finished with a gold basic button. I mounted my card on garden green cardstock and attached that to a crumb cake card base. Although the colours are more intense in my card verses the coffee cup, I love the vintagey look to this card – a style I rarely adopt in card craft but will definitely consider using again to achieve this pretty look 🌺🌺🌺
