Mixed Drinks

It’s my cousin’s 40th birthday today, and I couldn’t let the occasion pass without making a card in his honour.

This was my first play with the Mixed Drinks stamp set.  I stamped and silver embossed the ’40’ using the Number of Years stamp set.  I love this set and the matching Large Numbers Framelits dies are just as fabulous and sooo useful!

I created my background sprays by silver embossing with the Touches of Texture stamp set.  I then took a piece of DSP from the Pop of Pink DSP series, and die cut my swirl from this using the Swirly Scribbles Thinlits dies, before adhering it flat to my card front.

My mug of beer was stamped from Mixed Drinks onto some scrap whisper white cardstock in memento black ink, and the beer itself was stamped in delightful dijon ink and brushed with clear wink of stella.  I fussy cut the mug of beer out and popped it up on dimensionals.  Finally, I adhered my card front to a whisper white base for a clean look, and scattered some metallic enamel dots to finish.

Love this card, hope my cuz loves it too xx

Flourish Thinlits Dies & Banners for you

As much as I love to make my own cards, I somehow struggle to readily use DSP (Designer Series Paper).  Then I’ll spot another project on Pinterest featuring some and I’ll think to myself, I must use some of that paper next time!

That’s how the background of this card was born.  This gorgeous DSP comes from the fabulous Pop of Pink Speciality DSP.

I stamped my banner and sentiment from  Banners for you, before die cutting my banner out with the Bunch of Banners Framelits Dies.

To take advantage of my blank black and white canvas, I cut bright floral shapes using the Flourish Thinlits Dies from bermuda bay, mint macaron, melon mambo and rich razzleberry cardstock, with a few metallic accents cut from silver foil sheets.

I adhered my banner to my card front with dimensionals, and assembled my flourish cut outs beneath it.

To finish, I tied some thick whisper white baker’s twine around my card front, attached my DSP card front to a whisper white mat and then to a Bermuda bay card base.  Fabulous card for a fabulous friend 😘😘
