Playful Penguins

I adore penguins, and I love the Playful Penguins set at Christmas time. As soon as I spotted it in the Winter Catalogue, I knew it would be the set I chose to use to make my own Christmas cards.  The black and white penguin image is simple but detailed, and makes a great focal point.

I layered the penguin image on some Mercury glass acetate and added a glittered black organdy bow to tie in with the silver acetate panel.

The Scripty 3D embossing folder adds some interest to the whisper white backdrop and to the ‘wintery’ feel of the card.

It’s so easy to create stunning Christmas cards and tags using this gorgeous set, and with very little effort.  Can’t wait to play some more xx

Geared Up Garage Father’s Day Cards

It’s Father’s Day here in the UK tomorrow, and I decided to use Geared Up Garage for my cards. It’s a great set, but for me, the dies are the star of the show. Who knew engine parts could be so stunning?!

You can get as creative as you like with these dies, but for these cards I kept things simple and let the dies and the champagne foil do all the work. I went with a mango melody and blueberry bushel colourway, and I love the masculine vibe in a more playful colour palette.

Hope the men in my family love their cards and enjoy our celebratory family brunch tomorrow, and wishing all dads out there a very Happy Father’s Day!! xx

Healing Hugs Thank You Card

Healing Hugs is such a versatile stamp set and I love this classic blackberry bliss and gray granite colour combination.

The copper accents work so well with the rich colour of the flowers. I’m so happy that those gorgeous leaves trinkets and the Nature’s Twine have carried over to the new Annual catalogue.

Such a simple but elegant design that came together quickly – Stampin’ Up! coordination at its finest xx

Buffalo Check meets Rooted in Nature

I needed a masculine card and while I am waiting for my beautiful new products to arrive from the brand new Annual Catalogue, I decided to reach for my trusted Rooted in Nature set. I just love this set and how easy it is to put together both male and female cards!

I used the Buffalo Check Stamp with smoky slate ink to create the background and stamped and die cut various elements in black, gold and smoky slate.

I added some extra texture and interest by gold heat embossing the background on the front panel using the splatter from Artisan Textures, and finished off with some linen thread and some basic white sequins.

I wanted to create a masculine card that was both simple and stylish – hopefully I achieved this xxx

Marbled Hearts

With just one week to go before the launch of our new stunning Annual Catalogue, I have been looking at the stamps that will soon be retiring. One set I will miss is the Marbled background stamp set. What an amazing stamp this is with all its light and shade, and stunning swirls!

I decided to apply different coloured inks to the back of the stamp using my beloved sponge daubers (couldn’t be without those things 😂) in mint macaron, tranquil tide, highland heather, gorgeous grape rich razzleberry and blackberry bliss. I then stamped the multicolored swirls onto a piece of whisper white cardstock and used a versamark pen to follow some of the swirls before applying silver embossing powder to the versamarked areas and heat embossing them.

Finally, I die cut several hearts from the stamped cardstock to achieve both of the heart embellishments used on these cards. I love the unusual effects you can achieve this way and the fact that both hearts come from the same stamped image!

I’ve barely scraped the surface of this pretty technique, and am sure there are so many more effects you can achieve. Give it a try yourself xx

*UPDATE – due to its popularity, the CLEAR Marbled Background Stamp has now sold out! I have therefore updated the link below to the WOOD version which is currently still available but showing as low inventory**

Botanical Bliss Silhouette Card

The Botanical Bliss Bundle is such a versatile set and the dies mean that you can easily make your own gift tags or incorporate the tag into your card design.

I wanted to make the die cut look like a window within my card so I backed it onto a piece of blended cardstock. I cut the bird design from black cardstock so that once it was attached to my card, the birds looked like silhouettes.

The colours I sponged onto the background piece was lemon lime twist, coastal cabana and bermuda bay. Am looking forward to creating an array of cards like this with differently coloured backgrounds xx

Rooted in Nature

There are so many beautiful elements and ways to use the gorgeous and versatile Rooted in Nature Suite.

For this card, I wanted to stay true to the ‘nature’ theme without using too many earthy tones, and the merry merlot, mossy meadow and highland heather colourway works well together.

I white heat embossed my sentiment onto vellum and used crumb cake accents to complement the other elements in the card.

The design is simple but I love the texture and dimension created by the die cuts and embellishments. Can’t wait to explore this lovely suite some more xx

Very Vintage Colour Challenge

I entered a colour challenge this week and Very Vintage was the stamp set I decided to showcase.

The colours for the challenge were melon mambo, mango melody and granny apple green – what a fabulous colour combination and all from our brights collection.

I focused the colour in one area of the card, and created texture by embossing and distressing the white front panel.

I ruched up some retired melon mambo ribbon from my stash but you could use any ribbon to achieve a similar effect, or even colour your own!

Glad I got to put my spin on Very Vintage before it’s gone for good at the end of the month xx

Lemon Zest Thank You Cards

Recently, Stampin’ Up! asked us to make thank you cards for the wonderful volunteers who support the Wycombe Homeless Connection

I love any opportunity to thank those who work so hard to help others, so I knew I wanted to contribute to this effort.

The Lemon Zest stamp and matching punch set retires at the end of this month, so this project was its swan song!

I can’t get enough of the Well Written Dies. The size and font of the words in this die set is perfect for card fronts and such a bold, funky way to add a sentiment to your card! I love the contrast between the black foil ‘thanks’ and that vibrant pineapple punch lemon!

So glad I was able to give something back to the people who contribute to this worthy cause xx

Beautiful Promenade

Its been ages since I last inked up Beautiful Promenade. For this design, I decided to watercolour the gorgeous intricate die cut from the Beautiful Layers dies, with bermuda bay and crushed curry, and the brighter green tones you can see are where the two colours crossed over.

I wanted my flower to make an impact, and love how well the berry burst flower contrasts with the background yellows and blues.

My ‘Sending Love’ sentiment comes from the Well Said Bundle. I’m such a fan of die cut words and keep finding reasons to use these dies on all my projects! This bundle is such a great investment and with so many word and phrase combinations, the possibilities are endless.

Though this design is a bit different, it’s definitely growing on me and I like how all the colour on the card is contained within that die cut frame.  Next, to try different colour combos! xx
