Farewell to the 2017-2019 In Colours using First Frost & Country Road

It’s always sad to say goodbye to the retiring In Colours, but I have truly LOVED the 2017-19 In Colours. They are without a doubt, my favorite since becoming an Independent Stampin’ Up! Demonstrator in 2016.

I wanted to showcase those gorgeous colours one last time before they are gone for good next month, and love the way they look here, paired with Basic Grey.

As soon as I saw Country Home in the catalogue, I thought it would make a great masculine card. But here, I have turned that idea on its head with the addition instead of those stunning floral images from First Frost.

This stamp set is simply gorgeous! I can’t wait to try out more ideas with it.

For now, it’s a fond farewell to the stunning Lemon Lime Twist, Berry Burst, Powder Pink, Tranquil Tide & Fresh Fig 😥. Soon to be gone, but never to be forgotten 😉 xx

Sending Love & Healing Hugs

Healing Hugs is a such a beautiful Distinktive stamp set. I love so many things about it, from the gorgeous fonts to the detailed images. The leaves in particular are stunning. But I have struggled to achieve a contemporary look when using the rose stamp.

I challenged myself to create a set of cards using this stamp set that was both pretty and contemporary,

I’m usually a fan of bold colours as you know, but for this challenge I decided to pare things back, and I chose an alternative rainbow palette using Poppy Parade, So Saffron, Flirty Flamingo, Mango Melody, Lemon Lime Twist, Coastal Cabana & Highland Heather. I also stamped my rose image off once to achieve a softer hue.

I added black leaves for a less traditional take, and a black mat layer to make the coloured roses stand out even more.

My sentiment comes from Floral Frames and I will be so sad to see this stamp set go next month. ‘Sending Love’ is such an easy sentiment to use, and I love the cool font used in this set.

These cards have made me fall in love with this stamp set again and I’m excited to see what else I can challenge myself to create with it next! xx

Tropical Chic Watercoloured Background Panel

I have been playing with watercolour techniques all week and to be honest, I have struggled!! Somedays, my watercoloured backgrounds are just as I intended, other days it’s almost as though I shouldn’t have bothered 🤦🏽‍♀️.

After several failed attempts at the ‘smooshing’ technique, I was left with a lot of watercoloured panels that I thought were pretty much unusable.

Then I remembered the pretty leaf patterned square die from the Tropical Thinlits Dies and realised these pieces of watercoloured cardstock could be repurposed!

The variation and tone in the watercolouring really stands out beautifully once die cut.

I wanted to make the watercoloured panels the main focal point, so I opted for a white mat and base, and I absolutely love the font of that sentiment from Tropical Chic.

I was pleased with the end result and with how the cards turned out. Just goes to show that there really aren’t any mistakes in crafting, just unique creations 😉 xx

Sweetest Thing Cards

The Sweetest Thing Bundle is such a fun set to work with.  Though not my usual style, I have been finding it impossible to stop myself creating gorgeous cards with this suite, and the mixed sentiments make this set really versatile.

The different components of this card come together to create a contemporary yet fun card for any occasion.

I really wanted to make my jar of sweets pop on my card front, so I decided to mount them first onto a piece of basic black cardstock, and then onto the coordinating coloured cardstock.  The white heat embossed sentiments on the black cardstock, the polka dot embossed background and the stitched rectangle die cut detail all work well with this style – just love how these cards turned out.

Notecard & Envelope Gift Box

Following on from my previous thank you note card project, I decided to make a gift box to hold all the note cards and envelopes in.

I kept the box design simple but adore the elegant and decorative die cut elements that I added. And combined, the two projects are a great way of using up some of that DSP you may have been hoarding!

How beautiful is that Delicate Lace Edgelit die cut that I added to the opening flap?? Such a lovely touch and little else in the way of decoration is needed.

  • 1 x piece of cardstock cut at 11 3/4″ (or the length of standard A4 cardstock) x 8″
  • On SHORT side score @ 1 1/4″ rotate 180 degrees and score @ 1 1/4″ again
  • On LONG side score @ 4″, 5 1/4″, 9 1/4″, 10.5″

A Rainbow of Rooster Thank you cards

It was my son’s 2nd birthday on Tuesday and for once, I was super organised and made an array of thank you cards in advance!

Our note cards and envelopes are the perfect size for a thank you card, and so much more appealing when you have a batch to make – no cutting or scoring cardstock involved as it’s all done for you, easy peasy which is what I love!

I had no particular design in mind, but I was on a mission to use up some of my DSP and knew I wanted to incorporate that gorgeous ‘thanks’ die from the Well Written dies.

I’ve no idea how that adorable rooster from Wood Words entered into the picture, but I’m pleased with how the card came together in the end!

I had so much fun making them, I got completely carried away and by the end I had myself a rainbow of rooster thank you cards!!!

I used Stampin’ Write Markers to colour my rooster, and here are the colour combinations I used:

BLUE – Balmy Blue, Pacific Point, Coastal Cabana

PURPLE – Highland Heather, Blackberry Bliss, Rich Razzleberry

PINK – Flirty Flamingo, Berry Burst, Lovely Lipstick

YELLOW – Pineapple Punch, Mango Melody, Daffodil Delight

GREEN – Mint Macaron, Shaded Spruce, Call Me Clover

Love how they turned out so much, I decided to make a box to hold them all in. I mean, wouldn’t this set make a gorgeous handmade gift for someone?

Hope you like the design for these sweet cards. Pop back tomorrow to see the box I created to hold them all in xx

Grayson’s Geared Up Garage 2nd Birthday Scrapbook Page

My beautiful boy turns 2 today and I can hardly believe it. Just where has the time gone?! He is such a ball of energy and fun, it’s hard to remember what life was like before he arrived.

I wanted to create a scrapbook page to mark this birthday. Once I had decided on the photograph (which I cut out using a stitched rectangle die), I decided to frame the photo in words using various die sets and a mixture of fonts.

I used the Geared up Garage Bundle to add some color to the page. I must admit, I bought that set mainly for that gorgeous engine cog die, but I absolutely love all the dies and that stunning oil spill stamp too!!

I wanted the words to really pop against the white cardstock, so I used black foil. I am so happy that that stunning foil will be in the next catalogue!!! So lovely to work with.

Happy 2nd Birthday pumpkin 😘 xxx

Floral Frames Easter Card

The Floral Frames stamp set is so pretty and versatile but for some reason it had never ‘clicked’ to me that you can literally insert any sentiment you like into to the Centre of the wreath – lightbulb moment 💡 !!!!

I’m such a fan of this gorgeous stitched label die and somehow it has made it onto almost all of my Easter projects! Its size works perfectly with this design and I love the fresh fig/lovely lipstick, pear pizzazz and mossy meadow colour way.

I left the flowers white and added clear wink of stella for some subtle shimmer. The finished effect of the cards is really fresh and clean.

Gingham Gala Easter Bunny Pouches

When I spotted these adorable chocolate bunny paws in the supermarket, I couldn’t resist making these gorgeous Easter Bunny pouches to hold them. They couldn’t be simpler to make with the envelope punch board, and the finished size of the pouch measures 3″ x 4″.

I am so in love with that Easter bunny from Fable Friends and this time, I coloured him with crumb cake blends.

The gingham gala DSP is so perfect for Spring with its pattern and colour. I earned the matching ribbons during saleabration, but you could achieve a similar effect by colouring some whisper white ribbon with blends. This is also a really cost effective way of achieving ribbon to match your projects.

You can see how I made these Easter pouches by watching the video tutorial for my Beautiful Blizzard Snowflake treat pouches below – although the products used in the video are different, the method and dimensions are exactly the same.

Wishing you all a wonderful Easter xx

Fable Friends Easter Cards

I was a huge Beatrix Potter fan when I was growing up, and Fable Friends is reminiscent of Peter Rabbit and all his friends! It’s such a great Easter stamp set for any age.

I’ve become a huge fan of the double mat layered stitched rectangle look and can’t stop using this layout at the moment. I adore all of the stitched detail framelits by Stampin’ Up! in general, but I love how the rectangles provide a framed focus to the image, and they work so well on these sweet animals.

I stayed with a gray granite card base, sentiment label and ribbon to make the main image really stand out and really like the tone on tone look for the background.

Such a beautiful, classic stamp set that works well for many different occasions xx
