Badges & Banners – A Masculine Birthday Card

I love the versatility of Badges & Banners and the fact it makes for a great masculine card.  I created the background of my card front by stamping off my stamp in smoky slate ink and stamping this repeatedly over the card front, using my stamp-a-ma-jig to line the badges up.

Next, I stamped the image again, this time in dapper denim ink on scrap whisper white cardstock, and punched this out using the matching Best Badge Punch.  I adhered my card front to a dapper denim mat, tied some thick smoky slate baker’s twine around the card, and adhered my dapper denim badge on top of the twine with dimensionals, before attaching to a smoky slate card base.  To finish, I scattered some silver metallic enamel circles.

Feather Together

I love love love feathers so this Feather Together stamp set was calling out to me!  It is another photopolymer two step stampin’ set.  I started by stamping my background feathers in crumb cake ink on crumb cake cardstock.  I then took a smaller piece of crumb cake cardstock which I mounted on whisper white cardstock and adhered that to the centre of my card.  I created my feathers by white embossing on vellum cardstock.  I then coloured the back of the vellum feathers with my stampin’ write markers in elegant eggplant, melon mambo, mint macaron, pacific point & so saffron.  I stamped my darker feather detail in the corresponding colour on whisper white cardstock (to create dimension), and then adhered my vellum feathers to the cardstock to intensify the colours, before fussy cutting my feathers out.  To finish, I adhered my feathers to the panel with dimensionals and white heat embossed my sentiment from Endless Birthday Wishes onto another piece of vellum cardstock before adhering this to my central panel with glue dots.  I tied a piece of thick whisper white baker’s twine beneath my sentiment to finish.
